Four noble truths

Four Noble Truths

The truth of suffering: The Buddha explained birth is suffering; aging is suffering; sickness is suffering; death is suffering; separation from the loved is suffering; association with unloved is suffering; not getting what is liked is suffering; sorrow, pain and lamentation is suffering; and five-aggregates-afflicted by clinging;

The truth of the cause of suffering: Craving is the origin of the suffering. In other words, the lust, passion, hunger, and thirst for forms, feelings, perceptions, volitional formations and consciousness is the source of suffering;

The truth of the end of suffering: Remnant-free, residue-free absolute cessation of, ending of, termination of that craving for forms, feelings, perceptions, volitional formations and consciousness is the cessation of suffering;

The truth of the path that leads to the end of suffering: The only path that leads to the absolute elimination of craving for forms, feelings, perceptions, volitional formations and consciousness is the “Noble Eightfold Path”.

All Conditioned Things are Impermanent

All conditioned things are impermanent

All conditioned things are impermanent

The four verses are: “All Conditioned Things Are Impermanent, Everything Defiling Is Suffering, Nirvana Is Peace, All Phenomena Are Empty And Devoid Of A Self-entity. These four verses are the principles of the Universe. All things and phenomena, large or small, are derived from these four lines. Because they are the truth, all existence is branched off from them. They are the essence of the truth.

37 practices of Bodhisattvas

May all the Buddhas, World Honored Ones, endorse me and be mindful of me. In frount of all the Buddhas, World Honored Ones, I speak these words: In this life and all my future lives, whatever root of virtue that I have created by generosity, even as little as giving just one mouthful of food to an animal; whatever root of virtue that I have created by maintaining moral discipline; whatever root of virtue that I have created by following pure conduct; whatever root of virtue that I have created by helping other sentient beings reach enlightenment; whatever root of virtue that I have created by cultivating Bodhi; or whatever root of virtue that I have created from attaining the unsurpassable wisdom; All of these merits are to be gathered and reckoned up, and I completely dedicate them to Annutara-samyak-sambodhi, the unexcelled, perfect enlightenment.

The four immeasurables

The Immeasurable Equanimity- with definitive knowing and belief, we attend to all phenomena of the inner and outer world without attachment or aversion;
The Immeasurable Loving Kindness- we treat all sentient beings as equals, and with endless love, we care for them as dear as our own children;
The Immeasurable Compassion- Be compassionate to those who live a wrongful life which causes them immediate or future suffering. For them, at all costs, I will endure humiliation, hardships, and even beatings.
I will try to reduce their suffering by explaining to them the right ways at the right time;
The Immeasurable Empathetic Joy- I rejoice in others’ happiness and liberation with equnimity,admiration and endless joy.

Repentance

35 Confessional Buddhas Repentance

Repentance samadhi

For all beings whom I have hurt in the past, present or future, due to physical and verbal misbehavior or ill-intentions or physical and mental obstacles and for the suffering I received due to physical and verbal misbehavior or ill-intentions, I am willing to accept the consequences that results from karmic law.
I am sorry that due to my ignorance and not knowing the Four Noble Truths, we keep hurting each other in many lives and remain in the six realms without release.
We all want to be released. May all beings whom I have hurt be free from mental suffering, physical suffering and be happy. May all nonhuman sentient beings with whom I have karmic connections hear the Dharma and be reborn in the path of good realms. May all human or non-human beings with whom I have a connection, share my good karma and the merits and answer: Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu. May all beings share my merits.

Great Compassion Mantra

It is of immeasurable benefit to all sentient beings. It is the very core of Avalokiteshvara’s compassionate mission. The immediate benefits, as taught in sutra and commentaries, are: purification of negative karmas, protection and healing.
